As of March 18, 2024, GUNTRY will offer Security Guard training. Developed to align with Maryland state law, certified instructors will deliver two courses every week: Initial Security Guard Training Program and Security Guard In-Service Training (Renewal).

Here are the details for the two courses:

Initial Security Guard Training Program

Course length: Two days, 12 hours

Schedule: Weekly, Mondays and Tuesdays, 9am - 3:30pm

Who needs to take it: Anyone who is NOT a current active Maryland-certified security guard

Cost: $260

In-Service Training (Renewal)

Course length: One day, 8 hours

Schedule: Weekly, Thursdays and Fridays, 9am - 5:30pm

Who needs to take it: Current active Maryland-certified security guards

Cost: $150

‍Special note: This course must be taken at least 90 days prior to expiration of the current license.

Additionally, for people wanting to be an armed security guard, we offer wear and carry permit courses.

MD Handgun Carry Permit, Part 1 and 2

Course length: 2 days, 16 hours

Who needs to take it: Anyone who DOES NOT have a wear and carry permit and is seeking to become an armed security guard

Cost: $350

‍Special note: Cost includes fingerprinting. Course can also be taken over four days in our MD Handgun Carry Permit (4-Part) course.

MD Handgun Carry Permit, Part 2

Course length: 1 day, 8 hours

Who needs to take it: Anyone who already has a Maryland wear and carry permit

Cost: $150

Special note: This course must be taken at least 90 days prior to expiration of the current permit.

GUNTRY also provides onsite fingerprinting and photographs for $75.
